Built for the Coldest Jobsites in Western New York and Beyond

When winter hits the Great Lakes hard — and it always does — the difference between finishing the job and calling it quits comes down to what you're wearing. The Carhartt Yukon Extremes collection exists for exactly those days: the mornings when your truck thermometer reads -15°F before wind chill, when lake-effect snow is blowing sideways across the jobsite, and when you still have eight hours of work ahead of you.

Every Carhartt Yukon Extremes jacket, coat, bib, coverall, and parka earns Carhartt's Level 4 Extreme Warmth rating — the highest designation in their warmth rating system. That rating isn't marketing language. It's the result of combining 150g of 3M™ Thinsulate™ featherless insulation (which traps heat without adding bulk), a rugged 500-denier CORDURA® nylon shell (which resists tears, abrasion, and sharp edges on the jobsite), Wind Fighter® technology (which blocks cold wind from cutting through), and Rain Defender® durable water repellent (which sheds snow and light rain on contact).

What separates Yukon Extremes from other cold-weather workwear is that it was designed around the way tradespeople actually work. The Full Swing® Insulated Coat features gusseted panels and stretch technology so your arms and shoulders move freely — you can swing a hammer, pull cable, or reach overhead without your coat binding up or riding over your belt. The insulated biberall has ankle-to-thigh leg zippers so you can pull them on over work boots without unlacing. The coverall has double-layer knees with pad openings because real work happens on your knees as much as your feet.

At Great Lakes Work Wear, we've outfitted electricians, roofers, plumbers, fire departments, and construction crews across Western New York with Carhartt Yukon Extremes gear since the line launched. We carry the full collection in regular, big, and tall sizing — and we keep it in stock through winter, not just at the start of the season. Our Niagara Falls store lets you try on every piece with your actual work layers so you get the right fit the first time.

We also offer custom embroidery on Carhartt Yukon Extremes outerwear for companies that want their crew looking professional even in the worst conditions. Whether it's your company logo on the chest of a fleet of Yukon Extremes jackets or your department name on coveralls, our in-house embroidery team handles it with the same precision Carhartt puts into the garment.

The Yukon Extremes and Super Dux lines serve different purposes. Yukon Extremes is Carhartt's maximum-warmth collection, rated Level 4 (Extreme Warmth) with 150g 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation and a 500-denier CORDURA® nylon shell. It's purpose-built for standing and working in sustained, bitter cold. Super Dux, on the other hand, uses Carhartt's proprietary Super Dux™ fabric — a lightweight, abrasion-resistant material that's more flexible and breathable than traditional duck canvas. Super Dux jackets are available in various warmth levels (from Level 1 to Level 3) and are better suited for active work in moderate to cold
conditions where mobility is the priority. If your job has you outside all day in sub-zero Western New York

Carhartt Yukon Extremes gear is water-repellent, not fully waterproof. Every piece in the line features Rain Defender® durable water repellent (DWR), which causes light rain and wet snow to bead up and roll off the surface. This keeps you dry during snow, sleet, and light precipitation — the conditions most tradespeople actually face on the job. For sustained heavy rain, a dedicated rain shell over your Yukon Extremes layer is the best approach. The DWR finish combined with Wind Fighter® technology means wind-driven snow and freezing rain won't penetrate, which is why contractors, roofers, and electricians throughout the Great Lakes region rely on this line through winter.
